See Keith Urban Say ‘FML’ With Jimmy Fallon
Keith Urban‘s new pop-forward, electronica-flavored album Ripcord came out yesterday, but later that night the guitar-slinging star got back to his country roots with the help of Jimmy Fallon.
Appearing on The Tonight Show, Urban joined his host for a goofball musical segment, turning hilarious posts from the website FMyLife.com into sad-sack country vignettes. For those not familiar with the phrase “FML,” here’s the Urban Dictionary definition — although you needn’t have to think too hard to figure it out.
Fallon broke out his black cowboy hat and old-timey country-star impression, while Urban did his best to play along with the joke on his ganjo — a six-string banjo tuned like a guitar. The Aussie probably won’t quit his day job anytime soon, but each took turns putting the better-you-than-me stories to song, and after four rounds they landed on a true gem of deadpanned country comedy: “Today, my ex stole my car keys,” it began. “Good news is she can’t drive stick. Bad news is she set my car on fire. FML.”
