See Peyton Manning, Cole Swindell Duet on David Allan Coe Classic
With his Swindell Vision video series, Cole Swindell gives fans an insider’s peek at the life of a country star on the rise. Earlier episodes have focused on recording sessions, cowboy boot shopping trips and general backstage shenanigans, often punctuated by cameo appearances from the likes of Alan Jackson. In the series’ newest installment, though, Swindell switches on the camera during a benefit performance at the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent, where he performs a David Allan Coe song with a little help from the two-time Super Bowl champion himself.
The clip above opens up with a starstruck Swindell posing for pictures with Manning before the show, then proudly showing off an autographed football in one of the backstage hallways. Once he hits the stage for a charity performance, though, Swindell is back in the driver’s seat, singing “Ain’t Worth the Whiskey” with help from a camera-shy toddler and leading the crowd of fans and donors through singalongs of his other hits. Once again, however, Swindle finds himself standing beside one of his favorite athletes during one of the show’s highlights, when Manning lumbers onto the stage for a tag-teamed version of David Allan Coe’s “You Never Even Called Me by My Name.” It’s an unlikely duet, perhaps, but it’s charming nonetheless, with Swindell — last year’s ACM New Artist of the Year — making a quick transformation from country star to gushing fan.
