Watch Jimmy Kimmel, Michelle Obama’s Goofy Vegetable PSA
Acronyms can be confusing, especially when they suggest curse words. First Lady Michelle Obama tried to promote her new healthy food campaign FNV (“Fruits ‘N’ Vegetables”) with a PSA aired during Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, but the host derailed the promo by assuming the “F” had another meaning.
“I couldn’t be more excited about a new campaign called ‘FNV,'” Obama says in the spot before Kimmel interjects, “as in ‘Eat Your F’in Vegetables.'” The First Lady tries to clarify the letter’s meaning, but the host becomes irate. “I’m gonna stop you right there because I know what it stands for,” he says. “I have HBO. It’s not OK, and this is supposed to be for kids. There shouldn’t even be an ‘F’ in it.”
Obama tries to drill home the word “fruit,” which only confuses Kimmel more. “Eat Your Fruiting Vegetables? Makes so sense at all,” he says. The host never unravels the FNV mystery, and Obama also shoots down his requests to “sleep over in the Lincoln Bedroom” and “wash [his] hair in the Lincoln bathroom.” But at least he walks away with a free tomato.
Kimmel’s been on a comedic roll in recent weeks, reveling in the absurdity of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. In July, the host rolled out a montage of the mogul-politician saying his go-to adjective, “disgusting,” and earlier this week, he recruited singer Josh Groban to promote the compilation album spoof The Best Tweets of Donald Trump.
