Watch New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Footage in Japanese Trailer
Star Wars: The Force Awakens may have already dropped their final trailer before the film’s much-anticipated December arrival, but now there’s plenty of new footage to scour over and analyze thanks to the arrival of another trailer that sprang up on Walt Disney Japan’s YouTube page Friday.
While the structure of the international trailer is the same as that final preview, the latest look at the newest entry into the Star Wars saga offers a few more never-before-seen shots and sequences. In one scene, Daisy Ridley’s Rae and John Boyega’s Finn, the two characters who will likely carry the weight of the sequels’ narrative going forward, introduce themselves to each other.
In addition to that important sequence, there are more shots of TIE fighters patrolling the sunburnt skies, the roving droid BB-8 in action and Kylo Ren, the film’s masked and menacing villain, putting his unique three-pronged lightsaber to use. There’s also one tantalizing moment when Ren hold his lightsaber to Rae’s neck, hinting at a major exchange between the two. However, like the final trailer, Luke Skywalker is still nowhere to be seen.
“Hope is not lost today. It is found,” Rae recites in voiceover over an image of her crying, a callback to the series’ first film A New Hope and perhaps a clue to how Episode VII will carry over to Episode VIII. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18th.
