Tracy Morgan Plans Nationwide, Post-Crash Stand-Up Tour
Tracy Morgan is ready to dive back in to stand-up following his recovery from a fatal six-vehicle crash that left the comedian in a coma. He’s announced his spring 2016 Picking Up the Pieces tour, which will kick off at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Indiana on February 5th.
In a press release, Morgan compared re-entering the world of comedy to riding a bike. “You don’t forget where the pedals are,” he said. Dates and ticket links are available on his site, with shows scheduled through May 28th and the promise of more to be announced. Picking Up the Pieces will take him across the United States and Canada.
Morgan’s return to entertainment launched with an emotional, hilarious appearance at the 2015 Emmy Awards last month. While presenting the award of the night for Best Drama Series to Game of Thrones, Morgan not only reflected on the accident where he lost his best friend James McNair but also cracked a few jokes in the process. “When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn I wasn’t the one who messed up,” he said on stage.
Right before his Saturday Night Live hosting gig, Morgan warmed up with a pair of surprise stand-up gigs in NYC. According to TMZ, he performed at both the Comedy Cellar and the Stand during his rehearsal week. At SNL that weekend, Morgan was given support from his 30 Rock co-stars and even Larry David, who played Bernie Sanders during the cold open.
