Watch Colbert ‘Eat Local’ in New ‘Lunch With Stephen’ Webisode
Stephen Colbert released the second installment of his “Lunch With Stephen” web series, and the latest clip gives us a quick taste of the absurdly charming gags audiences will see when he takes over The Late Show this September.
“Hey, you see that sport last night?” Colbert says early in the quick clip. “So many points and balls!” As he opens his brown bag lunch, the comedian reveals that instead of eating “small-sounding foods” like he did on Monday, he’s decided to eat local, having sourced his lunch from the vending machine down the hall.
He builds on his story from the last “Lunch With Stephen,” where he had cited his concern for his safety after finding a bag of cash on the subway. “Some guys came looking for it, so I panicked and used a fake name,” he tells his trusted lunch buddy. “Yours.”
In between his “daily week-long” lunch dates and updating The Late Show‘s podcast, Colbert has launched an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure game called Escape From the Man-Sized Cabinet. Available on the The Late Show‘s site, players can explore the show’s offices as the host himself. (“You are wandering the office because your show doesn’t start for two months and they won’t let you drive go-karts inside anymore,” one introductory screen explains.) You can do things like check out Colbert’s to-do list and eventually end up entering, yes, a man-sized cabinet. From there, it’s a Chronicles of Narnia-esque adventure that even includes a centaur named Randall.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premieres on September 8th.
