Watch David Schwimmer, Rebel Wilson Rap Battle James Corden
James “The Rappin’ Assassin” Corden and David “The MC Who’s TV Royalty” Schwimmer squared off Thursday in a heated Late Late Show rap battle of “Drop the Mic.” Corden unleashed cheap shots about Schwimmer’s role in former sitcom Friends, while the latter returned the favor with zingers about the late-night host’s “asleep or dead” demographic.
With deadpan expressions, dressed in boxing attire, the duo stared each other down. “Just remember: You wanted this,” Corden said before his round. “Millennials, let me introduce you to this guy. His name is David – he was famous in ’95. He was on TV then. Now it’s 2016, and he has no Friends.” Elsewhere, the comedian used Schwimmer’s new role in The People v. O.J. Simpson against him: “He was a Kardashian on TV, but that was only for pretend. You played Robert, and that was a great combo. But you were so white, you shoulda probably played the Bronco.”
Schwimmer wasn’t intimidated. First, he took revenge by lampooning the host’s acting resumé: “We all know as an actor your roles were all the same: the heavy best friend, the humorous side-kick with a belly so big you can’t find your own –.” He took additional stabs at Corden’s weight (“They know me in Japan; they know you at In & Out”) and declared, “You’re late night; I’m prime-time. You’re cola, I’m fine wine.”
The audience seemed to be siding with Schwimmer – until unexpected contender Rebel Wilson crashed the stage. “David, your career – it’s a huge mistake,” she told the actor. “It’s like Ross and Rachel; it’s ‘on a break.'” Focusing her gaze on Corden, she rapped, “Carpool Karaoke, you think it’s your big thing. But everyone is thinking, ‘Shut up and let Adele sing.'”
Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas joined James Corden to talk purity rings and getting tied up. Watch here.
