Watch Live Stream of Lemmy Kilmister’s Memorial Service
Today, starting at 2:30 p.m. PST, Motörhead‘s Lemmy Kilmister will be laid to rest in a friends-and-family service at Hollywood, California’s Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Due to limited space, fans were asked to refrain from attending the service; however, Motörhead set up the live-stream of the memorial service above for those who want to take part in saying goodbye to the rock legend.
“We want you ALL to be a part of this memorial service,” Motörhead said in a statement. “So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends. GO to your favorite bar, or your favorite club, make sure they have access to an internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm’s life at home.” The service is expected to last for 90 minutes.
The memorial service for friends and family will coincide Saturday with another celebration for the rocker at the Rainbow Bar and Grill, the famed Sunset Strip bar where Kilmister was a decades-long patron. The Rainbow will host a 12-hour memorial service for Kilmister; however, with so many fans expected to attend that event, that section of the Sunset Strip itself will serve as a venue for the service. During the Rainbow’s private memorial service – from 5 p.m to 9 p.m. PST – the Whisky a Go Go and the Roxy will open its doors to Motörhead fans.
“Join us as we say goodbye to a dear friend and loved one,” the Rainbow’s Facebook told patrons of the 12-hour service. “Come celebrate the life of Lemmy Kilmister. Legends never die.”
In addition to celebrating the life of Lemmy, Motörhead also is asking fans who wish to make a charitable contribution in memory of Kilmister to donate to the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
