Prince Turned Carlos Boozer’s Gym into a Nightclub
The story of what Prince did to Carlos Boozer’s house is like fine wine – it only gets better with age.
As the story goes, in 2004, the Purple One was so interested in renting Carlos Boozer’s newly purchased West Hollywood mansion that he offered the NBA vet $95,000 a month for the 10-bedroom house. Naturally, Boozer said yes, though he’d later regret that decision, as Prince put his personal stamp on the place, turning the master bedroom into a hair salon and painting the house’s exterior purple, in addition to many other unsanctioned upgrades.
In fact, Prince made so many changes to the house that Boozer didn’t even recognize his property at first glance. And while Boozer was ready to “beat this little man down” and sue Prince for the renovations, he apparently had a change of heart when Prince slipped him a million dollars, and he eventually fixed it up himself.
Boozer hasn’t said much about the incident in the past – there was a non-disclosure agreement between the two – but Prince’s passing last month got him to open up a bit. When asked this week by TMZ if he regretted returning the house to its formerly staid state, Boozer (a huge Prince fan, BTW) revealed that we didn’t know the whole story – turns out, Prince also transformed his weight room into a bumpin’ nightclub.
“It’s different now,” Boozer said. “Nobody would’ve known he was going to pass like this. Prince was an icon, man. I wish he was still here with us. The house – I probably would’ve kept the weight room he turned into a nightclub. It just had a disco ball, a DJ booth, some chairs in there. It was cool.”
