Maya Rudolph Talks Swapping Notes With Obama, Revives T.T. and Mario
On Late Night, Maya Rudolph detailed her pseudo-encounter with President Obama. “He used my dressing room!” she gushed to host Seth Meyers, her fellow SNL alum, explaining how the Commander-in-Chief left her a handwritten note and presidential chocolates after his Tonight Show appearance.
Knowing she wouldn’t be able to access her dressing room due to high security, Rudolph left a note reading, “Hi, President Obama. Welcome! Mi casa es su casa. Thanks for the last eight years.” To her shock, the “world’s coolest president” responded with: “Thanks for letting me crash on your couch” – and left behind some presidential chocolate Kisses. “They’re packaged, and they’re beautiful, and they say ‘President Obama,'” she said. “How cool of a mofo do you have to be to be like, ‘I was here. They’re chocolate.'”
Rudolph also reunited with Kenan Thompson to revive Meyers’ favorite “Weekend Update” SNL gag, “T.T. and Mario.” Thompson, with glorious chest hair, and Rudolph serenaded the host’s three-month-old son, Ash – but, in keeping with the bit, the lyrics all became strangely sexual. “I held your booty, and the booty was so tight, singing, ‘Booty so right!'” the duo sang, to Meyers’ confusion and delight.
Rudolph co-stars with Martin Short on NBC variety show Maya & Marty.
