Hear Eli Young Band Preach the ‘Saltwater Gospel’
Although originally from the dusty and dry North Texas area, members of Eli Young Band are looking toward the ocean to inspire their first new music of 2016. The band’s brand-new single is called “Saltwater Gospel,” and it’s the title track of their upcoming fourth major label album. [Listen below.]
Co-written by Ross Copperman, Nicolle Gaylon and Ashley Gorley, the modern mid-tempo features a breezy-but-not-too-beachy melody, a chillaxing beat and a reverential theme about finding God in the sand and surf.
“When I go down, and sink my feet in the water / And I soak up, that sun and I watch it set / Yeah I can feel, the power of the saltwater gospel / I’m as close to God as I can get,” sings frontman Mike Eli in the song’s uplifting chorus.
There’s no word yet on when the new album will come out, but “Saltwater Gospel” is available for download now and the band hopes it makes a splash with fans this summer.
“Sometimes you just have that gut feeling you’ve come across something special,” he says. “When I heard this song, it moved me. I love that it is about so much more than just saltwater.”
Over the next week, Eli Young Band will be introducing the song to fans with tour stops in Louisiana, New York and Maryland, then continuing on with dates scheduled through the end of September. Check out their tour schedule here.
