Watch Arcade Fire’s Surprise DJ-Percussion Set Outside Louvre
Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler and Régine Chassagne delivered a quirky DJ set this week during French street artist JR’s exhibition “JR at the Louvre,” held at Paris public garden Jardin des Tuileries. The husband and wife duo were joined by live percussionists as Butler spun tracks by David Bowie (“Oh! You Pretty Things”) and Sinéad O’Connor (“Nothing Compares 2 U”) and others, NME reports.
Fan footage shows Butler triggering echo effects from his laptop to transition between songs, which are augmented by live percussion. Chassagne adds cowbell and tambourine, decorates the garden with security tape and starts a dance party in the audience.
Arcade Fire have paid tribute to Bowie on multiple occasions since the iconic musician’s death at age 69. In March, Butler joined Miguel, John Oates and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band during the Okeechobee Festival’s all-star PoWoW! superjam, unleashing a funky take on “Fame.”
In a tribute video filmed at the New Orleans fest, Arcade Fire honored Bowie with celebratory clips of the band performing “Heroes,” “Oh! You Pretty Things” and “Suffragette City.”
