Watch John Cena Teach Conan How to Sing ‘John Cena Sucks’
You may not be aware of this, but there is a certain segment of the WWE universe – essentially anyone over the age of 12 – that thinks John Cena sucks.
And it turns out he loves it.
Following his surprise appearance at WrestleMania 32 over the weekend – in which, yes, people chanted he sucks upon arrival – Cena stopped by Conan on Wednesday to talk about his complicated relationship with WWE fans. Rather than beating himself up about being one of the most hated wrestlers on the planet, Cena mentioned how he tries to put a positive spin on it all by convincing himself that they’re just showing their love and appreciation.
“It’s actually quite liberating,” he said. “And you know, some people think it’s a negative, but I’d like to think it’s the people’s way of showing me admiration.”
Sure, dude. And to hammer that idea home, Cena taught Conan’s crowd how to sing “John Cena Sucks,” because it’s a far more intricate song than you’d ever imagine. It even makes for a pretty fire ringtone if that’s your sort of thing.
Anyway, in keeping with the “everyone hates me” theme, Cena also explained how his girlfriend – on-the-mend WWE superstar Nikki Bella – wasn’t so happy about his role in Trainwreck. It wasn’t really the super-awkward sex scenes that made Bella mad; it was the fact Cena didn’t tell her about them until after he had landed the part. Then, instead of asking if she’d be cool with it, he just told her he was doing it (Pro Tip: Don’t do this, guys). That’s when she “turned into the Alien and the Predator at once” and nearly killed him, which would’ve been a damn shame for us all.
Though we suspect people would still chant “John Cena Sucks” anyway.
