See Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert’s Surprise Vegas Duet
Carrie Underwood arrived in Las Vegas early last weekend, kicking off the three-day ACM Party for a Cause — a festival surrounding the Academy of Country Music’s annual awards show — with a performance that shone a light not only the Female Vocalist of the Year nominee, but on many of her contemporaries. Opening acts Jana Kramer, Kayleigh Bannen, Lauren Alaina and Kellie Pickler all joined her during a no-boys-allowed version of “Before He Cheats,” while Miranda Lambert made an unannounced appearance to duet with Underwood on the pair’s Number One hit, “Somethin’ Bad.”
Although they were competitors in the ACM’s Female Vocalist of the Year category, Lambert — who wound up winning the award for a record-setting seventh year in a row — and Underwood share the stage like equals, swapping verses and harmonies throughout their Thelma and Louise-worthy anthem. The video above only captures an excerpt from the performance, but the pair’s mutual respect is still clear, proof that there’s nothing but sisterhood between the blonde belters.
Underwood and Lambert’s paths may overlap this June, too, when both are scheduled to perform at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium during the annual CMA Music Fest.
