The Highwaymen Unleash Concert Recordings: The Ram Report
On March 14, 1990, the Highwaymen filmed their entire concert in Uniondale, New York, only to have most of the footage shelved for 26 years. This May, we’ll finally be able to see the quartet of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings at that show, via a new three-CD/one-DVD box set titled The Highwaymen Live – American Outlaws.
The upcoming collection includes two audio discs recorded live at Uniondale’s Nassau Coliseum, plus one disc of various Farm Aid performances. The DVD contains the entire Uniondale concert, with the country icons performing such classics as “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” “Folsom Prison Blues” and “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.”
Columbia/Legacy is also prepping a new album called The Very Best of the Highwaymen. And on May 27th — one week after the box set is released, PBS will air a documentary titled The Highwaymen: Friends Till the End. Watch its trailer and read more about these landmark releases here.
