Brett Eldredge on ACM Awards Surprises: The Ram Report
When Brett Eldredge woke up on February 1st, he was sure something was wrong, judging by all the missed calls and text messages on his phone. The problem? He’d forgotten it was ACM Awards nominations day and had slept through some career-changing news: He’s a double nominee.
Country music’s best Frank Sinatra impersonator is up for Male Vocalist and New Male Vocalist of the Year at the April 3rd awards show — honors he insists he wasn’t expecting.
“I’ve always wanted to be a singer — before songwriting, before anything else I wanted to be known as a singer and a guy who can really move people with my voice,” Eldredge tells Rolling Stone Country. “That’s what I try to do every day. So these nominations just floored me.”
It was announced Wednesday that the Illinois native will perform his latest hit, “Drunk on Your Love” on the live broadcast. It’ll be his first full-song performance on a major awards show.
“I get to draw up how I want it to be portrayed,” says Eldredge. “‘Drunk on Your Love’ – how I get to bring that energy, that love, and that feel-good vibe that the song brings and put that on stage. When it comes down to it, I just wanna go out there and sing and do my thing.”
Catch Eldredge on the ACM Awards on Sunday, April 3rd at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
