Watch Kevin Spacey, Fallon Perform Kid-Written ‘House of Cards’
Given the seedy plots of Netflix’s House of Cards, it wouldn’t be appropriate for children to write spec scripts. But The Tonight Show took a more innocent approach to that idea on Tuesday, inviting elementary school kids to pen scenes based solely on the title. Their “Masterclass Junior” segment found Kevin Spacey and Jimmy Fallon interpreting the ridiculous results onstage, with three kid judges evaluating their performances.
“At the end, you decide who’s the better actor,” Fallon says in the clip. “Is it multiple Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey, or is it Teen Choice Award-winner Jimmy Fallon?” The host brags about his Best Comedy Album Grammy win (for 2012’s Blow Your Pants Off), and after Spacey reminds Fallon about his Golden Globe and SAG Awards, his competitor fires back with a zinger: “By the way, I’ve seen you with your pants off – you also have a couple SAG Awards.”
The duo’s first scene finds Fallon playing “Wizzy” and Spacey using a Christopher Walken accent to become “Garbage Man.” “I heard there are a trillion cards in your house,” he says. “According to the mayor of the USA, you have to clean those cards up or else you get arrested.”
The second bit finds the actors trying to out-Johnny Carson each other, and the final scene involves Fallon wearing a blonde woman wig. “Now you just look like Katy Perry drunk,” Spacey cracks.
