Justin Bieber: ‘I Feel Like a Zoo Animal’
Justin Bieber refuses to take photos with fans from here on out. In the midst of his massive Purpose world tour, the singer has shared a message on Instagram with his fans stating that he is “done taking pictures” with people who see or meet him in public.
“It has gotten to the point that people won’t even say hi to me or recognize me as a human,” Bieber notes of the informal way fans approach him. “I feel like a zoo animal, and I wanna be able to keep my sanity.”
He also touches upon fan entitlement, responding to the argument he gets from those he refuses to take a photo with. “I realize people will be disappointed but I don’t owe anybody a picture,” he writes. “People who say ‘But I bought [your] album’ know that you got my album and you got what you paid for, AN ALBUM! It does not say in fine print whenever you see me you also get a photo.”
The news comes months after Bieber canceled all future fan meet-and-greets for his current tour. He posted a note on Instagram, stating that he ends up “drained and unhappy” after spending time with so many different people.
“[I] want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense, and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression,” he continued. “The pressure of meeting people’s expectations of what I’m supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders.”
