Hear De La Soul, Snoop Dogg’s Funky, Cathartic ‘Pain’
Following the release of their EP For Your Pain and Suffering, legendary hip-hop trio De La Soul is revving up for the debut of their crowdfunded, comeback album And the Anonymous Nobody by recruiting Snoop Dogg for the funky, breezy “Pain.”
De La Soul‘s release of “Pain” comes with an interactive lyric video game where the player must maneuver a man holding a microphone away from the lyrics and random objects that slide across the screen. The song itself is a soulful, smooth throwback track, with a gospel-influenced chorus harmonizing “Pain gon’ make it better” on the hook.
Initially aiming for $110,000, the group ended up raising over $600,000 for their ninth album and follow-up to 2012’s Plug 1 & Plug 2 Present… First Serve. Alongside Snoop Dogg, And the Anonymous Nobody will feature guest appearances from David Byrne, Damon Albarn, Little Dragon, 2 Chainz, Usher and more. The album will be officially released on August 26th via Rough Trade Records.
Prior to the album’s release, De La Soul will embark on a brief tour in support of the LP which will feature several Festival Appearances, including stops at Governors Ball in New York and Electric Beach in England.
