Watch New ‘Girls’ Season Five Promo
HBO’s Girls returns next month and in its latest trailer, it looks like some things never change. The words “They’re older,” flashes across the screen, but it’s followed by “not much wiser.”
In its first Season Five trailer, which was released last month, it tipped to some big changes, including Marnie (played by Allison Williams) getting married, Shoshanna (played by Zosia Mamet) escaping to Japan and Lena Dunham‘s main character Hannah, well, being Hannah. And in the new 50-second clip, Hannah opens with her self-absorption intact: “I’ve worked very, very hard to overcome the challenges of my non-traditional body type.”
This time around, Hannah’s having nude shots taken, Shoshanna’s still in Japan where she’s experiencing new things while in a naughty nurse outfit and Marnie and Jessa (played by Jemima Kirke) serve as Hannah’s humorous life coaches. “You’re going to wake up one day and realize you’ve wasted your entire life,” Jessa tells Hannah, who quips, “You’re too late, that already happened.”
Marnie advises that “People who work on things stay together, otherwise you’re gonna end up alone, like Cher.” Jessa surmises Hannah’s already like Cher, and Hannah takes it as she should, “as a compliment.”
Girls returns to HBO on February 21st at 10 p.m. ET. This will be the series’ penultimate season, with its sixth and final season expected sometime next year. “I conceived of Girls when I was 23, and now I’m nearly 30 — the show has quite perfectly spanned my twenties, the period of time that it’s about, and so it feels like the right time to wrap our story up,” Dunham said in a statement. “We look forward to creating a sixth season that will honor our amazing cast, crew and fans. And in the Girls universe, nothing never ends too neatly.”
