Meghan Trainor on Video Removal: ‘I’m Poster Child for No Photoshop’
Meghan Trainor discussed the surreptitious digital body alterations that prompted her to pull her video for “Me Too,” telling Howard Stern, “I’m the poster child for no photoshop!” on The Howard Stern Show Tuesday.
While Trainor admitted that she had requested any visible peach fuzz or moles be scrubbed from the clip, she added, “I never said, ‘Cut off my rib.'” Trainor realized her waist had been slimmed after seeing screenshots from the video on Instagram, and she immediately called Epic Records boss L.A. Reid and label executive Sylvia Rhone to demand it be taken down.
“If you look at the picture, it’s really awful,” Trainor said. “Surgery would’ve had to do this.” She added: “I worked so hard, that was a 22-hour shoot, that was 2 a.m., I had Spanx, a corset — I had everything. I couldn’t have gotten more compliments that night of, ‘Oh, you look so snatched.’ And for them to cut off another half, I was like, ‘But why would I wear all that torture?'”
A new version of the “Me Too” video has since been posted, sans any photoshopping of Trainor’s body. On Twitter, the Best New Artist Grammy winner wrote, “The real #metoo video is finally up! Missed that bass. Thank you everyone for the support.”
“Me Too” is featured on Trainor’s upcoming second LP, Thank You, out May 13th via Epic Records. The album – which follows 2015’s Title and breakout single “All About That Bass” – also features lead single “No.”
