Watch Taylor Swift Fans Show Off Costumes at Jersey Show
Taylor Swift fans are as important to the pop star’s show as the singer herself, and outside of her Saturday show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, they represented their own girl gangs and best friends in a way that would make even their idol jealous of not being out there with them.
“This is my fourth time seeing the 1989 world tour,” one young fan told Rolling Stone as she stood with her group of friends, each dressed in their own take on the “wine-stained dress” in the lyrics to “Clean.” They were one of several creatively styled groups, pulling from Swift’s vivid imagery and fun social-media presence to help craft unique and matching costumes.
“We’re pegacorns!” exclaimed Jenna R., who was part of a group of girls who were sporting Pegasus wings and unicorn horns. “For her Halloween, she had posted a picture of her in a pegacorn outfit,” Jenna R. elaborated. “For the caption, it was, ‘Darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a pegacorn.'” The girls had the phrase emblazoned on white T-shirts.
Other crews kept their outfits simpler. Friends Penny and Trudy wore shirts that said, “Almost Fifty and Swifty” and “Fifty and Swifty,” respectively, while a trio of female devotees sported airbrushed tees that read, “Keep Calm and Shake It Off.” “I love her music, I love her voice [and] I love the fact that she can reach out to all these fans and make it so personalized and make each fan feel like they mean something to her,” Jaime of the “Shake It Off” crew offered.
“She’s not even just talented but also, as far as who she is as person, she’s genuine, and she’s doing so much good for the music industry, like what she just did with Apple Music,” Andrew M. enthused. “T. Swift for life. T. Swift for life!”
