Beyonce Teases ‘World Premiere Event’ for ‘Lemonade’
UPDATE: Beyoncé shared an extended, surreal trailer for her mysterious new project, “Lemonade.” Watch it below.
Beyoncé took to her social media accounts Saturday to tease a mysterious new project, dubbed “Lemonade.” It’s unclear what the singer is referring to – whether it’s a music video for a new song or the debut of something even bigger – but Beyoncé advised fans to tune into HBO on April 23rd at 9 p.m. EST to witness the “world premiere event.”
In the brief teaser, Beyoncé is seen slinking next to a car in a graffiti-marked garage, her face obscured by a fur coat. A low drone builds throughout the 20-second clip into Beyoncé is heard sullenly singing, “What am I going to do, love? What am I gonna do?”
Beyoncé has previously teamed with HBO to broadcast her and Jay Z’s 2014 concert film On the Run Tour as well as her 2013 documentary Life Is But a Dream. Jay Z also premiered his “Picasso Baby: A Performance Art Film” on the network in August 2013.
“Lemonade” arrives just four days before Beyoncé embarks on her Formation Tour, which takes its name from the singer’s surprise single that she released just hours before her Super Bowl 50 halftime show appearance. The trek kicks off April 27th at Miami, Florida’s Marlins Park.
It’s been long rumored that Beyoncé would be releasing a new album to accompany the Formation jaunt, but so far no official announcement has been made. However, as Fader points out, Beyoncé has been subtly posting lemonade-related photos on her Instagram in recent months.
