Sharon Jones and Dap-Kings Celebrate ‘White Christmas’ in Festive New Video
The holiday season is nearly upon us, and Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings have a funky antidote to the tired old yuletide standards thanks to their new seasonal LP, It’s a Holiday Soul Party. To get fans into the holiday spirit, the band has unwrapped their fresh take on the classic “White Christmas” in a festive new video. As Rolling Stone noted in its review of It’s a Holiday Soul Party, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings’ rendition of “White Christmas” leans more toward Ike & Tina’s ‘Proud Mary’ than Bing Crosby.”
The 11-track It’s a Holiday Soul Party, the group’s first holiday-themed album, features both original tracks (“Big Bells,” “Ain’t No Chimneys in the Projects”) as well as seasonal favorites, ranging from “8 Days (Of Hanukkah)” and “Silver Bells” to “Silent Night” and their “Funky Little Drummer Boy.” The album is available to purchase now both digitally and physically.
In addition to their new LP, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings will hit the road this December for five shows, including a New Year’s Eve stop at Chicago’s House of Blues.
