Hear Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ Sung in 20 Different Styles
Anthony Vincent, the metalhead with a million voices who posts genre-hopping cover songs on YouTube under the alias Ten Second Songs, has returned after a two-month hiatus with his rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” remix featuring Kendrick Lamar. After kicking things off with a solid impression of the To Pimp a Butterfly rapper, Vincent then morphs “Bad Blood” to sound like it was performed by 19 other diverse acts, including the Rolling Stones, TLC and Tiny Tim.
Vincent then blisters through even more unlikely and uncanny impersonations, from Shaggy, Cyndi Lauper and Barney and Friends to Def Leppard, Sepultura – Max Cavalera era, not Derrick Green’s tenure – and Pearl Jam.
In April, Vincent unleashed his talents on Eminem’s “Rap God”; before that, he’s covered Michael Jackson’s “Thriller,” Linkin Park’s “In the End,” Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty to Me,” Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse,” Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” a Valentine’s Day-themed medley and even an original song titled “City Street” that was also sung 20 different ways.
After first striking virally with his cover of “Dark Horse,” Rolling Stone talked to Vincent about how he was inspired to create his “20 styles” songs – “40 styles” in the case of “Rap God” – and how he decides which artists to impersonate. “I love that people are having conversations that are involving Frank Sinatra, Type O Negative and Tech N9ne at the same time,” Vincent said. “If I’m in any way responsible for having some 14-year-old girl Google ‘Type O Negative,’ that’s crazy.”
