Dale
Pitbull made himself a pop star through sheer charm and energy. Now, the Cuban-American rapper is pulling a rare reverse-crossover with this Spanglish LP. Like 2010’s Español release Armando, Dale is full of Spanish-speaking guest stars. But unlike that album, whose lineup included Lil Jon and Afrojack, he’s skipping EDM and Southern hip-hop almost entirely in favor of a fuller Latin-fusion sound. “El Taxi” shines with a sticky-sweet reggaeton beat and a verse from his Dominican-American protégé Sensato; the sexy “Como Yo Le Doy” reveals a softer side to the perpetually turnt-up Pit. Hidden gem: the Human League hook that pops up over the thick Eighties synths of “No Puedo Más.”
