Paul McCartney Plots Opening Dates of ‘One on One’ Tour
Paul McCartney has announced the first seven dates of his upcoming “One on One” tour, which kicks off April 13th in Fresno, California. Tickets will go on sale March 14th at 10 a.m. local time; a pre-sale for American Express Card members will run Thursday, March 10th at a.m. through Sunday, March 13th at 10 p.m.
“One on One” follows McCartney’s 2015 “Out There” tour, which concluded October 22nd with the former Beatle’s first-ever concert in Buffalo, New York. That jaunt included 27 shows in 22 cities across the world, including his debut in South Korea and a spot at Chicago’s Lollapalooza that featured a guest appearance from Alabama Shakes’ Brittany Howard.
The tour announce comes following the death of iconic Beatles producer George Martin. McCartney issued a heartfelt statement Wednesday about his frequent collaborator.
“He was a true gentleman and like a second father to me,” he wrote on his website. “He guided the career of The Beatles with such skill and good humour that he became a true friend to me and my family. If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George. From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.”
