Watch Beyonce Cover Whitney Houston at Elementary School Fundraiser
Beyoncé followed her Super Bowl performance with a more intimate set at a fundraiser for the Center for Early Education. The singer’s set included a cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” a track famously covered by Whitney Houston in 1992.
The performance was part of a 75th anniversary gala for the West Hollywood elementary school. A full video or set list of her performance has yet to be released, but clips from attendees show that the singer performed her hits “XO” and “Crazy in Love” along with the “I Will Always Love You” cover. It is unconfirmed whether or not Beyoncé’s four-year-old daughter Blue Ivy attends the school for students between pre-school and sixth grade.
The pop star had a packed February when she released new single “Formation” just before joining Coldplay and Bruno Mars for Super Bowl 50’s halftime show. Immediately following the halftime performance, she announced her Formation world tour. Both her appearance at the Super Bowl and the video for “Formation” courted controversy for paying homage to the Black Panthers. The Miami police union indicated that they would boycott her Florida show due to her “anti-police” message.
