Old Crow Medicine Show to Stream Annual New Year’s Show
Old Crow Medicine Show‘s New Year’s Eve concerts at the Ryman Auditorium have become a Nashville tradition — every December 31st (save for one) since 2009, Ketch Secor and his old time string band have rung in the new year with their high energy brand of acoustic music. Following Old Crow’s barrage of crowd-pleasing originals and covers, balloons cascade from the Ryman rafters and the group performs “Auld Lang Syne” with reverence.
Despite expanding to a two-day engagement, Old Crow’s 2015 shows December 30th and 31st with Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear both sold out. Those not fortunate enough to have tickets or be in town can still enjoy the group performing “Brushy Mountain Conjugal Trailer,” “I Hear Them All” and “Wagon Wheel” from a distance, however, as WSM 650-AM will be broadcasting this evening’s show live. With Grand Ole Opry announcer Eddie Stubbs hosting, the music will start at 11:30 p.m. ET and can be heard on 650 AM, wsmonline.com or on the WSM mobile app.
These New Year’s Eve shows are the last dates OCMS have on the books until April 29th, when they’re slated to play MerleFest in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The group’s most recent full length LP Remedy was released in July 2014 and featured the Bob Dylan co-write “Sweet Amarillo.”
