Watch New Order’s Delirious ‘Tutti Frutti’ Video
New Order have unveiled the video for “Tutti Frutti,” one of the highlights off the dance-rock group’s 2015 comeback LP Music Complete. The Tom Haines-directed video finds an aging TV host wrestling between reality and fantasy and fame and irrelevance on the set of his own variety show. The track itself features vocals from La Roux’s Ely Jackson, while Italian actor Ricky Tognazzi plays the role of the out-of-touch host, Stereogum reports.
“Tutti Frutti” was inspired by New Order‘s love of Italo-disco records. “When we started up, we used to listen to a lot of Italian electro records,” drummer Stephen Morris told Rolling Stone. “I really have no idea who they were even by. This guy just used to send us mixtapes, and you’d just play them in the car. That’s all we had in the car, this tape of Italian electro. So since it was an early influence, we decided to get a bit of Italian playfulness in it.”
The video follows the October release of the band’s Tutti Frutti EP. which featured a Hot Chip remix of the Music Complete track. The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowland also crafted his own “Tutti Frutti” remix.
