Watch Kendrick Lamar’s Surprise Cypher With UK Teens
Kendrick Lamar recently surprised some UK teens when he stopped by a hip-hop workshop held by Reebok Classic and Brighter Sounds in Manchester. The rapper’s visit inspired an impromptu cypher.
In a clip from the workshop, Lamar is seen smiling and delivering encouragement as several attendees take turns on the mic. The Compton native also jumps in to freestyle during the amiable rap battle. While going up against Lamar might seem an intimidating prospect, the teens seemed to hold their own while taking some light ribbing from Lamar to boot.
As Pitchfork reports, Lamar, who’s collaborating on a sneaker with Reebok, may also soon be collaborating on a song with DJ Khaled. “I am talking to Kendrick Lamar about an anthem that I want him on,” Khaled said on Power 106’s The Cruz Show. “Me and Kendrick have been talking about it. I’ve seen him a few times since I’ve been out here. I’ve been staying in touch with Top Dawg.”
Lamar’s surprise release, Untitled unmastered., which he dropped on March 3rd, debuted a the top of the Billboard 200 chart. It has sold more than 178,000 copies.
