John Fogerty Schedules 1969-Leaning Las Vegas Residency
John Fogerty will revisit 1969 – a year in which Creedence Clearwater Revival released three albums and played Woodstock – during an eight-show Las Vegas residency. Dubbed “Peace, Love and Fogerty,” the singer will perform eight gigs at the Venetian starting January 8th, 2016. Each concert will focus mainly on CCR’s three 1969 LPs – Bayou Country, Green River and Willy and the Poor Boys – and feature a behind-the-scenes look at Fogerty’s prolific year through exclusive footage and personal stories weaved into the set.
“Peace, love and Vegas! I’m excited to be coming to the Venetian and bringing my ‘1969’ show for you all,” Fogerty said in a statement. “We are going to be rockin’ my Creedence Clearwater Revival songs along with many more. We’ll have some new things added to the show, too. Hope you all can come and help us rock it up in Vegas come January!”
The performances will also feature CCR’s non-1969 hits as well as tracks from Fogerty’s solo career. Tickets for all eight show will go on sale October 9th at the Venetian’s ticketing site.
On October 6th, Fogerty will publish his autobiography Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music, which charts the rocker’s early life, Creedence days and solo years. In the memoir, Fogerty reveals that the demise of Creedence Clearwater Revival in 1972 was because his band mates wanted to take on more songwriting responsibilities within the band.
“The worst thing that ever happened to my band was the Beatles,” Fogerty writes in the tome, “because the guys in my band thought they could be the Beatles. . . . These guys had no clue about what was necessary. A vision. That’s just the truth.”
