Action Bronson Breaks Down His Most Insane Onstage Moments
“Something new happens every show,” says rapper Action Bronson. “I don’t have a script and that’s why people come.”
Though his rhymes are elaborate and his taste in food is refined, Bronson’s live shows have a classic rock & roll chaos. YouTube users have uploaded footage of the MC stealing golf carts, throwing XBoxes, rapping in festival Porta-Potties and subjecting bold kids to wrestling moves.
“I fuckin’ clotheslined the shit out of somebody. It wasn’t a punch,” he says, correcting a video named “Action Bronson Punches Rowdy Fan.” “He flew in the crowd, everyone’s going nuts, I’m jumping into the crowd. And he was one of the guys holding me up. It’s love. It’s a weird way of showing love, but it’s love.”
At one of his favorite shows (Bonnaroo 2013), which he performed sitting in an office chair, Bronson says a joint was tossed from the crowd and “it fell right into my hand, so I had to smoke it.” Regarding the show where he chucked XBoxes into the crowd, he recalls, “I gave away two game consoles, two iPods, two iPad Airs, I went to the store, dropped about two grand, and that was it.”
In honor of his just-released major label debut, Mr. Wonderful, Bronson has a chuckle and breaks down some of his wildest nights onstage.
