Watch Disclosure’s Hypnotic, Dystopian Clip for ‘Jaded’
Disclosure have released a new installment of their dystopian short film featuring songs from their upcoming album Caracal. “Jaded” features a cameo from Sam Smith, who sang and starred in the second installment “Omen.”
While Disclosure‘s previous singles from their sophomore album have featured prominent vocalists — including Smith, Gregory Porter and Kwabs — the youngest brother of the duo, Howard Lawrence, sings on the track and appears prominently in the clip.
The storyline for the three parts of the short film — which began with “Holding On” featuring Porter — follows the heroine Mariella in a gritty, sci-fi world where a collection of elderly men are stifling the youth. In “Jaded,” Mariella is being hypnotized by the men but begins transforming into other people, including the Lawrence brothers.
Caracal, which features Lorde, Miguel and the Weeknd alongside Smith, follows up Disclosure’s successful 2013 debut, Settle. The duo’s debut album was led by the success of singles “Latch,” featuring Smith, and “White Noise,” featuring AlunaGeorge.
For the DJ duo, focusing on vocalists was heavily influenced by their biggest hits from Settle. “There’s not any really club music on this one,” Guy Lawrence told Rolling Stone in July. “It’s all very club-influenced, because of the beats, but every song is like ‘Latch’ or ‘White Noise’ — a fully structured pop song.”
Caracal will be released on September 25th. This fall, Disclosure will tour arenas in the U.S., which will include a date at Madison Square Garden on October 24th.
