Watch Jon Stewart Imitate Donald Trump on ‘Late Show’
After crashing The Daily Show Monday to lobby in support of the Zadroga Renewal Act, Jon Stewart interrupted Stephen Colbert‘s Late Show monologue Thursday in an effort to pass the bill that would extend the health care benefits of 9/11 first responders. Colbert tells Stewart that, since the host left The Daily Show, there is now only one way to have your message heard: By bringing the Trump.
“No one is going to listen to you unless you, I don’t know how to put this, ‘Trump’ it up a little bit. The media won’t pay attention to anything at all unless you’re Donald Trump,” Colbert told Stewart. Thankfully, The Late Show staff had a wig and a bag of Cheetos on hand to turn Stewart into the Republican presidential frontrunner.
“These 9/11 first responders are the most top notch, first class, diamond-encrusted heroes America can produce, and don’t let Congress play politics with this necessary bill,” the Trumped-up Stewart said. “If I’m elected – and I will be elected – I will build a wall around politics and I will make politics pay for it. Tweet at your congressmen with the hashtag #WorstResponders. Tell them Donald said, ‘Pull up your big boy pants and make America great again.’ Pass the Zadroga Act or I will glue Congress together, dip them in gold and wear them around my freakin’ neck.”
Stewart can’t hit every late-night show in his efforts to get the Zadroga Act renewed, but he has some help: On Thursday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Kimmel asked his viewers to tell their congressmen to reauthorize the act. “Congress is being very Congress-y about it,” Kimmel said while placing much of the bill’s holdup on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
