Watch ‘Kimmel’ Grill Californians About Phony Super Tuesday Votes
“There’s always pressure to seem like you’re informed, like you’re participating when it comes to politics, whether you are or not,” Jimmy Kimmel says in his Super Tuesday installment of “Lie Witness News.” “The California primary doesn’t happen until June, so there’s no way that anyone here could have cast a ballot in person. But did that stop them from claiming they did?”
The hilarious segment finds a Jimmy Kimmel Live! crew hitting the streets of Hollywood and asking people to share details of their voting experience. Whether they support Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders, they all lie with no hesitation. “The lines definitely were long,” one person notes. “It was a lot of mixed supporters – definitely there for Bernie, some people definitely there for Trump. But I definitely saw a lot of outturn for Hillary.”
One guy claims that he paid a bogus $10 cover charge, and a woman boasts about earning free swag including a “great coffee mug.” But the fake voting process has its downsides, including the controversial “hologram” system: “It’s interesting, but I always feel skeptical about what can go wrong when you’re introducing systems like that,” one man says. “But I’m just an old soul.” Even more bizarre is the system where you vote by “blinking your eyes”: “I wasn’t too fond of that,” another man admits. “That system can be manipulated.”
