Hear Letlive. Rage Against Status Quo on New ‘Another Offensive Song’
Over the past 14 years, L.A.’s letlive. have become known for their rabble-rousing, socially conscious post-hardcore and chaotic, high-energy live shows. The self-described “soul punx” should keep that reputation intact with their fourth album, If I’m the Devil …, due out June 10th, and their sure-to-be-insane summer tour, kicking off just four days later in their hometown. Judging from the new songs the band has released so far, including lead single “Good Mourning, America,” letlive. are more outraged at the state of the world than ever – a sense corroborated by “Another Offensive Song,” which you can hear below.
Singer and lyricist Jason Butler says of the song, “We can no longer be afraid – in a world where we can be shot in the back with unarmed hands up, a world where we must face ridicule if we identify or fall in love with the wrong gender and then must fight to reform mandated law in order to marry that person, or a world where we continue to let policies perpetuate the disenfranchisement of minority groups for fear of being accused of conspiracy or an ‘unrealistic and utopian liberal approach.’ People may read this and think of it as some overly righteous left leaning bullshit. That’s cool. This ain’t for you. This is a song for those that want to rid themselves of the aforementioned burdens. This is a song for those that want to be free.”
