UFC’s Conor McGregor Says He Wants a Chimpanzee in His Corner
It looks like Conor McGregor wants to be UFC‘s Mike Tyson in more ways than one.
The Irish interim Featherweight Champion is already known for his extravagant tastes – heading into his fight against Jose Aldo at UFC 194, he treated himself to a pair of new cars that set him back a whopping $450,000. While he has a long way to go before he catches up with Floyd Mayweather, let’s just say he’s willing to try.
Case in point: During an appearance on last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, McGregor (nice sparkly jacket, BTW) revealed he’s got big plans for celebrating his win against Aldo on December 12…and they involve taking a page directly out of Tyson’s book. After all, the former champ once spent a ridiculous amount of money on three Bengal tigers, and Conor would like to do the same thing.
“Mike Tyson is the man. Heavyweight champ. Had a damn tiger in his home. He was actually at my last fight, at UFC 189,” McGregor told Kimmel. “So I’m hoping he’s going to be there because I have honestly, truly, have been really giving serious thought to getting myself an exotic animal, and a tiger would be right up there. I need to sit down and speak with Tyson and hear the pros and cons.”
Here’s a con: Tigers weigh north of 300 pounds when they’re fully grown and feeding them can cost a pretty penny. That’s probably why McGregor intends on starting off small(er) by getting a monkey – “Just a cool chimpanzee whipping around,” he said. “That would be unbelievable as well” – and training it to be his hypeman.
Isn’t that everyone’s dream?
