Watch New ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ TV Spot on Finn
Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to tease fans with its TV spot clips, which give bite-sized tastes of the film without revealing much on the storyline. In its latest TV spot installment, which debuted on Facebook with the caption, “Every generation has a story. Here’s Finn’s,” the franchise focuses on John Boyega’s character, Finn.
“You don’t know a thing about me, what I’ve seen,” Finn says defiantly during the opening of the 30-second clip. “We all need to run” he delivers urgently as scenes of him taking off his stormtrooper helmet and him running as the world is being blown up around him are revealed. Soon he’s wielding a lightsaber against a stormtrooper.
“You sure you’re up for this?” Harrison Ford’s character Han Solo queries Finn towards the end of the clip. Finn’s answer: “Hell no!”
While the teaser clips may leave fans wanting, the franchise plans a never-ending string of films. “Star Wars is its own genre,” Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and assisted on The Force Awakens, told Wired. “Like all genres, it can hold a million different kinds of artists and stories. They say ‘Buddha is what you do to it.’ And that’s Star Wars. It can be anything you want it to be.”
There are at least four new Star Wars planned, with potentially a new film released annually. Plus there’s the 2016 anthology film, Star Wars: Rogue One, which is set before the original 1977 film and allows for more expansion.
“In the case of Rogue One, we’re essentially making a period piece,” Lucasfilm Story Group’s Kiri Hart told Wired. “The benefit of making additional episodes that move forward on the timeline is that we are making new space for ourselves.”
Star Wars: The Force Awakens premieres in theaters on December 18th.
