Alice Battles Time, Dragons in ‘Through the Looking Glass’ Trailer
Alice returns to the vibrant, gaudy world of Wonderland in the exciting first trailer for Alice Through the Looking Glass, the sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s beloved tale.
While James Bobin (The Muppets, Flight of the Conchords) will serve as director on Through the Looking Glass instead of Burton, the filmmaker remains a producer and the rebooted Wonderland bares his trademark gothic whimsy.
The film follows Alice (Mia Wasikowska) on her quest to save the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) from the clutches of Time — not the dreaded concept, but a mustachioed villain played by Sacha Baron Cohen. Amidst plenty of Carroll-esque rhyming and wordplay (“Young lady, your time is up,” Time tells Alice with menacing inevitability), Alice traipses through the beautifully stylized world of tea parties, giant clocks and chessboards, encountering a familiar cast of characters and a dragon-like creature that could be the mythical Jabberwocky.
Along with Depp and Wasikowska, Through the Looking Glass features numerous returning players from the 2010 film, including Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Alan Rickman as the Blue Caterpillar, Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat and Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit.
Alice Through the Looking Glass is scheduled to open May 27th, 2016.
