Hear Chief Keef’s Heavy, New ‘Bang 3’ Track ‘Bouncin’
Chief Keef has released a heavy, hounding new track, “Bouncin,” the first taste of the second half of his Bang 3 double LP.
While previous iterations of the cut have been floating around the Internet since June, the complete track boasts potent drill production by Keef and DP Beats, as well as fleshed out lyrics.
It’s a wholly gladiatorial affair, from the track’s hook — in which sizzling Crisco is compared to the pops of gun fire, and Keef shouts out friend and comedian Andy Milonakis — to its monstrous synth melody, which takes an unexpected detour halfway through.
Keef “leaked” the first 14 tracks of Bang 3 at the beginning of August, and will release the complete project — with 12 new songs comprising part two — on September 18th. “Bouncin” is available as a free download to people who pre-order the second half of the album through iTunes.
Along with the album, Keef is also teasing a “multi-city peace concert produced by Alki David’s Hologram USA.”
The concert is ostensibly a follow-up to Keef’s notorious Stop the Violence benefit concert in July: Initially, the rapper was scheduled to perform a hometown gig in Chicago, with proceeds benefiting the family of Dillan Harris, the toddler killed by the vehicle used in the drive-by shooting of Keef associate Melvin “Capo” Carr. Although Keef himself would not appear at the concert in person due to several outstanding arrest warrants, he was scheduled to perform live from Los Angeles and have his likeness beamed to the Windy City via hologram. Still, the gig was ultimately canceled after protests from community leaders. Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel is also an outspoken critic of the rapper and claimed the event “posed a significant public safety risk.”
The concert was ultimately moved to nearby Hammond, Indiana as part of the daylong hip-hop festival Craze Fest, but local police, under pressure from Chicago authorities, shut down the show after one song.
