See Brothers Osborne’s High-Octane ‘Stay’ on ‘Seth Meyers’
Brothers Osborne are currently in the midst of a couple big pushes: One, to spread the word that their debut album Pawn Shop is now available and two, to attempt to get their Top Five single “Stay a Little Longer” to the Number One slot.
TJ and John Osborne did a little of both when they made their national television debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday, January 18th and performed “Stay a Little Longer.” After its opening mandolin notes, the performance makes room for Brothers Osborne’s multiple strengths. TJ’s deep and resonant voice lends some gravity to his lines about the tug of desire, which then gives way to some blazing guitar work from John. That extended solo actually became a focal point of the song when the Osbornes went in to re-record it for Pawn Shop with producer Jay Joyce.
“[He] goes, ‘Alright, let’s start at the end,'” TJ tells Rolling Stone Country. “We’re like, ‘The end of what?’ He’s like, ‘The end of the song. Let’s start at the end. Let’s start at the solo. I want to put a long solo at the end.’ I’m like, ‘We already have a two -minute solo at the end.’ And he’s like,’ I know, I want to make it longer.’ I was like, ‘Right on!'”
Brothers Osborne will return to the road with Jon Pardi’s All Time High tour on Friday, January 22nd in Houston. The trek will continue through January 30th in Raleigh, North Carolina.
