Hannibal Buress Tracks Down Top Twitter Troll Amy Schumer
A cardinal rule of the Internet is never feed the trolls, but such instructions do not apply to Hannibal Buress, who tracked down his top Twitter hater on the series premiere of his new show, Why?
Buress began by showing a string of mean tweets sent out by the ridiculously named, NotAFannibal, including one brutal missive in which he was called “a less funny Tavis Smiley.” No longer able to take the abuse, Buress had the Comedy Central IT team uncover the user’s IP address, which he then tracked to a dilapidated home with a burnt-out car in the driveway.
Inside sat Buress’ nemesis: Amy Schumer, who tried to deny she was the troll while mouthing along as Buress recounted one of her vicious burns.
Swatting invisible flies, Schumer informed her new Comedy Central competition there are no friends in comedy while sipping and spitting beer and reasserting her hilarious Glamour awards joke, “I’m probably like 160 pounds right now, and I can catch a dick whenever I want.” And, of course, she made sure to plug her new movie, Trainwreck.
Buress tried to counter Schumer’s assertions that Comedy Central was her network — “It’s owned by Viacom!” — and that people regularly watched more than one TV show. Buress, for instance, enjoys both Extreme Couponing and Extreme Couponing: Dallas Edition.
After getting to the root of Schumer’s hating — her big demons — the pair reconciled and reaffirmed their lunch plans, though Schumer quickly added: “Could you pick me up? My car exploded.”
Elsewhere on the premiere of Why?, Buress discussed the show’s inquisitive title in a short stand up bit where he asked questions like: “Why are we letting Donald Trump run for president like it’s cool? It’s not cool — he’s filed for bankruptcy four times. That’s like asking Greece to be president.”
The season premiere of Why? with Hannibal Buress is available to watch via Comedy Central.
