Watch Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush Roast GOP Candidates on ‘SNL’
Will Ferrell reprised his George W. Bush caricature – an impersonation he took from Saturday Night Live to Broadway – for an SNL cold open where he roasted each Republican presidential candidate. “This is an important day. I’ve made a big decision. I’m entering the race for President of the United States of America,” Ferrell’s Bush told the crowd. “The field of Republicans out there is so messed up I figured, it makes you miss me, doesn’t it? And that’s saying a lot.”
One by one, Ferrell’s Bush took aim at the contenders, from Ben Carson (“I can barely hear him when he talks”) to Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio (“Sounds like a Miami law firm, ‘If you’ve been injured on the job, call Rubio and Cruz.’ These two guys, the sons of immigrants, hate immigrants.”) However, he saved most of his vitriol for frontrunner Donald Trump.
“And then you got this knucklehead with the hair and the 100-foot wall,” Ferrell’s Bush said, laughing at a photo of Trump mid-bloviating. “I tell you, every time I get in a bad mood, I just picture his big, fat, orange, Oompa Loompa face and I just piss my pants. And now he says he wants to keep all the Muslims out. Yeah, great idea, but impossible to implement and not what this country is about. Heck, that’s like saying ‘Let’s keep all the leprechauns out.'”
As for Jeb Bush, “It’s a pretty good plot twist that I turned out to be the smart one,” the elder sibling said of his little brother. “He doesn’t stand a chance in this field. He’s an insider, he knows how to govern. The Republican voters don’t want that. They want someone who is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.”
