Hot Stuff: Watch a Dude Dunk Over Another Dude – Who Is On Fire
The final of The Dunk King went up in flames. Literally, not figuratively.
Once the world was through watching the Thunder dismantle the Warriors in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, they were treated to an epic showdown on TNT’s new dunk competition. The premise is rather simple: Prove that you’re the best dunker in all the land, and you’ll walk away with $100,000 in your pocket and major bragging rights.
Following several rounds of elimination, Tuesday’s finale certainly lived up to the hype. Jordan Kilganon – the dude who dunked in jeans at the NBA All-Star Game – pulled off an acrobatic jam, and Kenny Dobbs, who has a dunk video with nearly five million views on YouTube, leapfrogged over another dude engulfed in flames. It wasn’t even the first time he’s nearly set himself on fire for a dunk, either.
Alas, that wasn’t quite good enough for the judges to name him champion. That honor went to Porter Maberry, who sealed the deal by jumping over all 7-feet-something of Shaquille O’Neal. That would be impressive by anyone’s standards, but Maberry is the shortest professional dunker in the world at 5-foot-5. At that height, he shouldn’t be able to jump over anyone, let alone one of the most imposing athletes we’ve ever seen.
Still, he didn’t set Shaq on fire before jumping over him – Kenny Dobbs got robbed.
