‘Mr. Show’ Crew Reunite in First ‘With Bob and David’ Sketch
Netflix‘s With Bob and David might not officially be a Mr. Show reunion, but the principal members of that beloved sketch comedy show are back together in the first sampling from the new series. In the sketch, David Cross and Bob Odenkirk team with Mr. Show regulars Jay Johnston, John Ennis and Paul F. Tompkins for “Resolutions.”
The sketch finds five middle-aged men sitting around a poker table detailing the changes they plan on making to their lives. Those include incredibly idealistic goals like going to Hollywood and becoming a big-budget director, starting a cell phone behemoth in the basement and running for Pope, even though that person is Jewish. However, when Tompkins’ character reveals he’s quitting red meat, his friends doubt the probability of his resolution, even tempting him with meat lovers’ pizza.
With Bob and David will premiere on Netflix on November 13th. Although the Mr. Show team is back together, Odenkirk insisted to Rolling Stone that the new series is not a reunion. “It will not be called Mr. Show, it will not have the set, the music, the logo or the construction. There will be a change in pacing and probably a more integrated bunch of ideas. And yet we are still the same people,” Odenkirk said.
