Does Ciara Think She Cursed the Seahawks? ‘That’s Silly’
Last month, with the Seattle Seahawks off to an 0-2 start, Marshawn Lynch’s mom apoplectic and Russell Wilson getting trolled left and right, angry fans began searching for a scapegoat – and they found one in Wilson’s girlfriend, Ciara.
According to some, the two-time defending NFC Champions had fallen victim to “The Ciara Curse,” a not-at-all-made-up hex that has apparently afflicted several of the singer’s exes, including Amar’e Stoudemire, Bow Wow and Future, whose career has exploded since the two split last year. In fact, one particularly passionate Seahawks fan was so worried about the jinx that he started a GoFundMe page in the hopes of raising $50,000 to convince Ciara to take a hike.
Of course, she stuck around, and Seahawks have gotten back to their winning ways – which has ended any and all talk of a Curse. But what did Ciara think about the hex while it was in full effect? As you’d probably expect, not much.
“You know what? It comes with territory. I think that this is a job; I wake up every day doing exactly what I love and what I dreamed of. So the best thing to do is focus on that,” she says. “You also realize when people say negative things about you [that] you’re still living your dream. When people say those types of comments, you know, that’s silly. It’s clearly silly.”
In fact, Ciara has gotten used to strangers dissecting every aspect of her relationship with Wilson – and she’s willing to let most of it slide. But when it came to the Curse, Ciara was calling B.S.
“It’s happened to people in our world, it’s not a new thing when people say things – it comes with the territory,” she says. “I choose to focus on the positive and focus on the cool things that are truly happening. That’s how I live my life, and I have to say life is good. Clearly those things don’t make any sense.”
