Hear Disco Group Escort’s Vibrant New Song, ‘Body Talk’
New York disco-funk group Escort have premiered a dazzling new dance single, “Body Talk,” ahead of the October 30th release of their long-awaited sophomore LP Animal Nature.
The shimmering new single recalls the classic disco feel of Studio 54 and follows up the funkier, more sensual “Animal Talk.” Both tracks showcase the diversity of the forthcoming album, which overall aims to sound more modern than their previous release.
“We had to jump forward in the timeline of dance music to keep it interesting and stay within the spirit of the songs we have been feeling as DJs,” Escort co-founder Eugene Cho told Vulture. “Dance music has taken such a hold that now you can use much harder drums without immediately losing the interest of a lot of people that would have shied away from it.”
Escort released their self-titled debut in 2011 and helped relaunch the disco revival made mainstream by Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” The album features 10 new tracks alongside an additional collection of nine alternate edits by Morgan Geist, Darshan Jesrani, Little Boots and the band itself. A few remixes will appear on Animal Nature as well, including JKriv’s take on the band’s recent cover of St. Vincent’s “Actor Out of Work” as well as Tiger & Woods’ previously released remix of “Barbarians,” off Escort’s debut.
Though a tour has yet to be announced, the band will play two special dates in advance of Animal Nature, including NYC’s Plaza 33 on September 4th and the Virgin Hotel in Chicago on Halloween.
