Hear Justin Moore Anticipate a Break-Up in ‘Need a Drink’ New Single
In his new single “You Look Like I Need a Drink,” Justin Moore pours a tall one not in celebration, but as a salve to heal an impending broken heart. Released today, the track recasts the idea of a breakup song as a rocking anthem instead of a traditional weeper.
The lyrics, especially the titular chorus, are equally unconventional, as Moore anticipates his fate based on cues from his lover. She’s pacing the floor with finality in her eyes, and the Arkansas singer knows what’s coming: he’s about to get dumped. “All I can think is you look like I need a drink right now,” Moore sings, eager to dull the pain with a high-proof elixir. Written by Rodney Clawson, Matt Dragstrem and Natalie Hemby, “You Look Like I Need a Drink” is Moore’s first new music from his still-in-progress fourth album, the follow-up to 2013’s Off the Beaten Path.
Moore, who was named New Artist of the Year at the 2014 ACM Awards, is currently in the studio. He also appears with Brantley Gilbert on Hank Williams Jr.’s upcoming album It’s About Time, reprising the Bocephus classic “Born to Boogie.”
