Hear One Direction’s ‘Perfect’ Ode to Bad Boys
One Direction have released another new song off their fifth album. “Perfect” is a catchy ode to bad boys and their rebellious personas.
Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson co-wrote the track with Julia Bunetta, Jesse Shatkin, Jacob Kasher, John Ryan and Maureen Anne McDonald. On the track, the band sings “If you like causing trouble up in hotel rooms/If you like having secret little rendez-vous/If you like to do the things you know that we shouldn’t do/Then baby I’m perfect, I’m perfect for you.”
Later on the track, Styles seems to directly respond to the songs Taylor Swift is rumored to have written about him on her album 1989. “If you’re looking for someone to write your break-up songs about, baby I’m perfect,” he sings towards the end of the track.
“Perfect” is the third song to be previewed from the band’s forthcoming fifth album, Made in the A.M., out November 13th. First single “Drag Me Down” debuted in July during the band’s North American leg of their On the Road Again world tour in support of Four. The album announcement in September came with the release of the anthemic, Coldplay-esque “Infinity.”
Original member Zayn Malik quit the band in March, just one week after leaving the band’s tour. Since then, Malik has signed to RCA and has continued to tease an imminent solo career across social media.
The band has carried on as a quartet and are currently wrapping up their tour with a string of U.K. dates that launched after an appearance at the Apple Music Festival with girl group Little Mix. The Apple Music show followed an announcement from Niall Horan that the band would take “a well-earned break at some point next year.” Horan’s comment offered clarification to tabloid rumors that the band would split up.
